We are pleased to announce that the Asian Studies Center at Michigan State University has recently joined the Graduate Education and Training in Southeast Asia (GETSEA) consortium as a new member institution. Supported by the Henry Luce Foundation’s Asia Program, GETSEA was established to strengthen graduate education in Southeast Asian Studies across North America through innovation, collaboration, and cross-institutional engagement.
As a collaborative network led by eleven current and recent National Resource Centers (NRCs) in Southeast Asian and Pan-Asian Studies, GETSEA seeks to expand shared infrastructure and partnerships among Southeast Asian Studies centers. Key initiatives include a virtual speaker series, specialized online mini-courses, a mentoring network, professional development workshops for graduate students, and the development of a framework for shared language instruction.
We encourage you to participate in the upcoming needs assessment and to take advantage of the expanded curricular, professional, and networking opportunities offered through GETSEA. To learn more about available resources and programs, please visit the GETSEA website.
